Animal Rhythms is an enticing performance blend of West African story culture, dance, theater and live music. Animal Rhythms has audiences explore rhythm as they create the sounds of the ancient story drum using call and response chants and body drumming. Audiences are introduced to vibrant modern dance as the humorous characters journey through the stories in bright African costumes and headdresses. Animal Rhythms opens with an introduction rhythm and movement workshop, allowing audiences to connect to the dance they are about to see. There is also an African drumming workshop between the stories. Tailored workshops can also be booked with performances.

What they are saying...

"Everybody Dance Now
Any kid will tell you, entertainment-wise, it’s hard to top an animal story with a good beat. Animal Rhythms invites kids to explore rhythm and modern dance following several animals as they learn about helping, sharing, working and friendship.
Get ready to dance!"
-Urban Baby Daily

NY 1

"African Animal Adventures
Even Manhattan Chauvinists have to admit that this weekend, there is a reason to cross the East River. Kids are treated to a lesson in body drumming that involves keeping the beat on one’s head, belly and thighs."
-Susan Avery, New York Magazine

"I was very pleased with your performance. It was perfect for children and the adults could enjoy it, too. A great blend of dance and storytelling. I am now a Treehouse Shakers fan." Frank Stankus, parent, Pelham, NY.
